Our new home

The building

Aero Technic BG's new home spans over 15,000 sqm of built space and over 20 m tall on a land plot of nearly 40,000 sqm — able to host up to 5 B 737-900 or A 321 aircraft.

The building is located freely in the northern part of Sofia Airport Complex, Slatina district, Sofia, approximately 1,200 m northeast of the threshold of runway 09 and outside the boundary line, 325 m parallel to the runway axis, according to the airport's requirements.

Transport, pedestrian and emergency access is from the adjoining street on the north-northeast. A security kiosk sits next to the portal. Aircraft access is from the south, off the existing concrete platform directly connected to the runway, through automated hangar doors built to specification.

Volumetric and functional layout

  • Two halls for service, inspection, maintenance and repair of up to 5 B 737-900 or A 321 aircraft
  • Two office blocks with workshops and warehouses
  • Two technical annexes housing the boiler rooms

Structure

Mixed structure — prefabricated reinforced concrete columns with metal trusses for the roof. Point reinforced-concrete foundations for the columns. The hall façade uses sandwich panels with a mineral-wool core.

Cranes

Five portal cranes in total: 4 cranes 24 m long serving Hall A, and 1 crane 36 m long serving Hall B.

Systems

  • Local oil-fired boilers heat the halls and offices. Chillers on the roof handle cooling.
  • Compressed-air installation with a receiver vessel for technological needs.
  • Automatic fire-extinguishing system across all storage areas and halls. Underground sprinkler tank.
  • Rainwater is collected in absorbent prisms within the plot.
  • Purification and collection in service tanks for all technological wastewater.
  • Fire alarms throughout. Video surveillance in the common parts and on the site. Floodlighting on the façade, around the building and at the main transport entrance.
  • Photo-voltaic (PV) panels on the roof for our own electricity generation.
